"Jill and Tim are always there for you with information, options and trying to help you with the best possible running solutions. They're knowledgeable, accessible and friendly. I have and will continue to recommend their business to all my friends who run. Their store is beautiful, clean and well organized with the latest gear for runners/walkers. Jill's diagnostic skills are the best and always on the mark! She has helped me change my running form for the better with hardly any growing pains! Thanks so much!" ~ K.B.
"Wonderful seminar! I wasn't sure what to expect, but I truly enjoyed myself and left excited to put my new knowledge to practice!" ~ R.D.
"Jill is one of the MOST patient, articulate and thoughtful instructors I've worked with in any venue. That aside, she made the instruction truly interesting, fun and definitely productive." ~ D.D.
"Jill has answers to questions I've been asking other coaches for many years. She knows how to teach running, not just work with runners who have natural ability!" ~ C.C.
"Thank you for making our Chi Running clinic such a great experience! Your passion for helping people enjoy running in a pain-free and natural way combined with your outstanding presentation skills made for an informative and enjoyable day. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend others who are interested in Chi Running to attend your clinic. Thanks again!" ~ C.B.
"Excellent class! Jill is very knowledgeable and authentically wants everyone to be active and injury free. She listened to and observed each member of the class and addressed our unique challenges. Thank you Good for the Soles!" ~ R.T.
"Tim, Jill- I went for a 6 miler yesterday at about a 6.5mph pace (that included going over mountain road by Poets Seat tower in Greenfield, both out and back), for my third outing of the spring… and I am experiencing almost no soreness from it. I’m astounded.
My calves and hip flexors are just a tiny bit sore, but I would be able to do the same run again today if I had to. Unbelievable. There is absolutely no chance I would have been able to complete that distance and avoid severe soreness for the 2 or 3 days following the run this early in my season with traditional running.
Can’t say thanks enough for the lessons & the gear- you guys are great!" ~ J.G.
"I just wanted to commend you on a well run and very informative Chi Running workshop this weekend. Your knowledge, humor and respect for each member in our class made for a fantastic learning experience. I thoroughly enjoyed it and feel I came away with some valuable information on how I can improve my technique and efficiency. It is very important for me to be able to continue with my passion of running - INJURY FREE and I believe the concepts of Chi Running will be the cornerstone.
I ran a 5K the following day using two of the focus groups and I could feel and sense a very real improvement already! I then took my Newtons for a very short run later that afternoon with my metronome and all felt good. I will continue to transition into the new shoes slowly and work on maintaining cadence.
My husband and I may take a ride back to your store in the near future. He is very interested in trying the Altras for his "sore toes".
Thanks again Jill - definitely money well spent!!" ~ J.L.
“I love running. I need to run. As an ex-smoker for 15 years and someone who has struggled with weight my whole life, I’m lucky that running is now a big part of my life. But when I first visited GFTS in early June 2011, I was so worried that only after three years of running, I was close to retirement. Every run was frustrating, painful, etc. I had tried different sneakers and was on my second pair of orthotics.
I was so desperate for help that Jill could have sold me a car that day, but I was so lucky to have found someone who was caring, knowledgeable, and honest. I bought my very super awesome bright orange Newton Gravitys and signed up for the ChiRunning Classes.
Jill is right up there with some of the best professors I had in college. Everything she teaches sticks. She’s caring, patient, and encourages questions and concerns. I loved these classes and I LEARNED ChiRunning. I’m pretty darn determined, but I was running more comfortably right away.
On October 15, 2011, I ran The Hartford Marathon in 4 hours, 2 minutes. I enjoyed every minute of it (seriously). More importantly, I enjoyed my training. I would not have been able to do this if I were running “traditionally.” My Dad and sis were at mile 26. We did high fives. They said I was one of the only ones that didn’t look tired. They’re right, I felt great.
Thanks to Jill, GFTS, my fabulous sneaks, and ChiRunning, I will run forever. I tell anyone that runs and who will listen (haha) about the store and ChiRunning…..because I DIDN’T know, and I am so thankful that I found out. Besides my BFF Lori who inspired me to run and change my life in the first place, Jill will always have a special place in my heart. I should have done this a long time ago.” ~ J.D.
"You guys are a pleasure! I am a forever customer as long as you exist. The shoes you recommended and sell have altered my running in the best of ways- I am injury free and have been for a couple of years now! I sing your praises whenever I get the chance." ~ M.A.
"Jill's classes at Good for Soles are organized, informative and offer lots of hands on practice. She really adds a lot to the ChiRunning book with real life examples and knowledgable tips. I am 41, and for the first time in years it feels like my best runs are ahead of me." ~ K.M.
“Just wanted to let you both know that yesterday I completed my 1st half marathon, it was great! It was the Monson half marathon and it was very hilly and challenging, but I finished it! I have never before been able to train for long enough to reach even a 10K before I started using my Newtons. Now, in less than 6 months I am averaging more than 20 miles per week with little to no pain or soreness. The goal is a full marathon next year, and then who knows? Thanks again for all the help and encouragement.” ~ T.M.
“Good form is everything, and running is a skill, just like hitting a baseball or playing the guitar. After several years of running injuries, Jill’s ChiRunning course helped me break down and re-build my running form, and now I am running further without pain than I have in years.” C.W.
“My bunions are very happy since buying Altra Intuitions and Correct Toes at Good for the Soles. I have hardly worn any other shoes as my feet complain pretty quickly if I do. I was having pain in my bunions every day and night. Despite years of expensive orthotics for pronation I have had lots of trouble with my feet. Now, between the Altras and Correct Toes, I don’t need my orthotics and my feet don't ache like they used to.” ~ C.C.
“Recently bought a pair of Altra Zero-Drop Instinct running shoes and have run in them about 5 times - including a 21 miler yesterday. By far the most comfortable running shoes I have worn. Love the wide toe box...plan to wear them for my upcoming marathon.” ~ J.C.
“I loved running when I was young, but had to give it up in my teens because of back and knee problems. Every few years since, I’ve tried running again just to see what would happen – but always had to stop soon afterwards due to the old injuries. In more recent years, I wouldn’t even get past my first short run because I started getting shin splints almost immediately. Somewhere along the way, I got the ChiRunning book and tried using it, but my shins were so prone to splints that I finally gave up on the idea of running altogether.
But this past summer – right around when I turned 43 – I saw that Good For The Soles’ offered a discount on ChiRunning classes with a pair of shoes. So I decided to give running one last chance, and headed over to the shop, ending up with a pair of feather-light Somnio Nadas – and three very well-taught Chi Running classes.
In the time since, I’ve slowly worked up to running about four miles (much of it on steep hills), which is far more than I’ve been able to run in decades. And with ZERO injuries. My shins, knees, and back have not felt this good since I was that skinny little kid who loved tearing it up all those years ago. At this point, it feels like there’s no limit to how far I might be able to run.
And while being able to run again – and run pain free – is wonderful in and of itself, the best thing about this whole experience is that I feel like I got an important part of myself back. I didn’t realize how much I missed just being able to go outside and run.
So thank you Good For The Soles. You’ve truly been good for this soul.” ~ G.S.
“I stopped in to Good for the Soles after my feet and knees were ready to give up on the minimal jogging I was doing. After I learned about ChiRunning and started wearing shoes from their store, my running has completed changed for the better. I used to hate running and now I love it. In the past, I have struggled through 5K runs but I just ran a 5K with total ease and pleasure. And it's SO much more than that. My running is also meditative now and it's bringing ease to all areas of my life. I am telling everyone about Chi Running. And I LOVE my running shoes!” ~ V.N.
“I have never had a walking shoe that was comfortable until the VIVOBAREFOOT Neo! I took the ChiWalking class and am completely sold! ChiWalking is so much fun, so easy and addictive! I am walking miles and miles and am not tired or sore. I am amazed!! The support from Jill is sincere and she's there when you need advice. Try it, you also may be surprised!” ~ M.C.
“The ChiRunning Workshops have completely changed my running! The workshops are informative and fun with a focus on learning by doing. ChiRunning makes sense intuitively, and the gradual approach you recommend has helped me changing my running style without risk of injury. Newton running shoes work well for the transition, encouraging me to adopt the proper lean and foot strike while still providing some support. Love the Injinji socks with separate toes!” ~ L.C.
